I suppose this is long overdue as I don't do it very often. OK so I never do it. I thought I would write to everyone and give them a little update as to where I'm at, where I'm going, etc. I don't normally do this, but it has been a while since I've talked to some of you and I thought it would be good to send out an update.
I have been Co-Campus minister with my sister in Vermillion, SD for Coffeeloft.org for the last year. I have decided it is time for change yet again. I am catching the theatre bug again. Last year I spent a year as a scenic designer in Kalamazoo, MI and loved it, but I felt called to come back to Vermillion and work for Coffeeloft.org. It has been a great year and we've done a lot. I was able to help with a show this year at the U and I decided shortly there after I missed it way too much and need to get back into it. It just so happened that not long after making that decision I met this adorable girl named Ariel Del Gaizo. She is a Doctoral candidate in Clinical Psychology at USD and is going on internship for the next year. I have decided to move with her to Maine eventually and pursue design work in the North East.
This summer I will be moving to Vermont and working from June through August as the Property Master for St. Micheal's Playhouse in Burlington. There are quite a few people going from USD and I also have other acquaintances going there as well. It should be a good season and will get me closer to the east coast. In August I am planning on heading to Maine. Ariel will be doing her internship at the VA hospital in Togus, ME, it is outside of Augusta. I am currently looking for design possibilities in the area and have a couple of places that are interested in hiring me to design as well as work in their scenic studio as the Assistant Technical Director. I'm hoping I'll be able to find other design opportunities in other areas as well. Boston is only a couple hours away and New York is about 5; so those are possibilities. Next year I will be applying for full time theatre work in probably larger cities throughout the country. I am hoping to find something in a design field, maybe with a studio and possibly in education. We'll see. Well that is my update. Short and sweet. Hope this finds you well. Let me know what's happening with you.
